From our friends at WABI Burien:

Our January walk will be along part of the Green River Trail this Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025. We’ll meet a few minutes before 11 a.m. at the Three Friends Fishing Hole, 19970 Russell Road in Kent (map below).

There is a parking lot with room for about 30 cars and I’ve never seen it full. The bathrooms at this location are closed for the winter, but there are bathrooms at our turnaround destination.

We’ll walk south along the trail to Van Doren’s Landing Park, which is a nice park with bathrooms, a play area and picnic tables. The trail is wide, paved and almost completely flat. It’s used by walkers and bicycle riders but never seems to be extremely busy.

The distance from Three Friends Fishing Hole to Van Doren’s Landing Park is about 2 miles, so the total distance for the walk is about 4 miles. It’s an out and back walk, so walkers are welcome to turn around at any point if they don’t want to walk the full 4 miles. All walkers and well-behaved four-legged friends are welcome. There’s plenty of room to spread out so everyone can walk at their own pace.

If you live in Wesley Des Moines and are interested in carpooling, please let me know and I’ll set something up.

If you have any questions or have trouble finding us on the day of the walk, please text or call Anna Martin at 206-501-5726.
