This last weekend, local athlete Aiden Basco won the 4A 300 hurdles, and leads the state in that category. He also placed third in the 110 hurdles on Friday, which was the ninth best overall for that category in the state. “This was a long road for Aiden because last season ended abruptly just before the league meets because of stress fractures in his shins,” Johnny Basco, his Father, said. “At the end of last season he was ranked 148th in the state for the 110’s and 50th in the 300’s.” After this season, Aiden is ranked nationally – according to athletic.net – 10th among all high school athletes in the 300 hurdles and is the #1 sophomore in the country! He’s also ranked 89th nationally in the 110 hurdles among high school athletes and ranked 4th amongst sophomores, nationally! Aiden currently attends Mt. Rainier High School. “I don’t know what else to say about this young man, but I am damn proud to have him as my son like any other parent would,” Johnny added. “He’s also an honor roll student which I’m extremely proud of.” If you recognize Aiden’s name from the blog, it may be because he’s finished well in both the Cove to Clover and Brat Trot races for the past few years. Way to go Aiden!]]>
