Registration is now open for Discover Burien’s free new Business Optimization and Operations Support Training (B.O.O.S.T.) program, which includes three distinct workshops to support entrepreneurs and local small businesses offering education, resources, and technical assistance.

This free program series will begin April 3 and run through May 3, 2023.

Funding was provided by the Washington State Microenterprise Association (WSMA) thanks to a grant by the Washington State Department of Commerce.

Participants will need to schedule for the sessions they would like to attend, which will help organizers prepare enough materials and supplies for everyone in attendance.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

Business Basics:

Preparing & Managing a Business Plan, Financial Management & Taxes, Funding & Loan Options

Marketing Your Business:

Marketing Strategy & Planning, Customer Engagement, Branding, Social Media, Content Marketing, and Merchandising

Employee Management:

Recruiting, Hiring, and Retaining Employees, Employee Regulations & Requirements, Leadership Coaching, Do’s & Don’t of the Workplace

As part of the B.O.O.S.T program, participants will have the option to be connected with a coach/mentor for a 1:1 session to evaluate their businesses needs and challenges, offer support, guidance, knowledge and expertise.

Organizers will also be referring participants to organizations that are prepared to offer support in a variety of capacities depending on the need.

These sessions will be very valuable for entrepreneurs and business owners that are open to mentorship from others that have taken the same journey.
