Over 1,300 attend 'Empty Bowls,' raise $25,797 for food banks – a new record!

Over 1,300 attended last Friday’s ‘Empty Bowls’ fundraiser events at the Burien Community Center, setting a new record – raising $25,797 for the Highline Area and White Center Food Banks! Last year’s total was $25,300. The Winners for the Restaurant Category:

1. Maven Mercantile with a Chicken Apple Butternut Stew
2. Azteca Mexican Restaurant with Diablo Shrimp
3. 909 with Creamy Tomato Parmesan

The Winners for Facility Category:

1. Highline Hospital with Fire Roasted Tomato Basil
2. Burien Nursing Rehab with Mushroom Bisque
3. Day Star – Veggie Beef Pasta
