A series of intense, massive storms full of rain and wind struck the region this week, and Burien has suffered – with a mudslide that destroyed a home, water over numerous roadways, overflowing retention ponds, downed trees, damaged homes, power outages, roads littered with branches – and much, much more.
Scott Schaefer put his boots on, went out and took these photos on Wednesday, Dec. 9 – before the next storm hits sometime Thursday (click images to see larger versions/slideshow):

Part of the roof collapsed at HiLine Lanes Tuesday night, and according to Manager Leah Anduin: “Nothing spectacular to report Scott. Just our usual roof issues (we were already looking for a new roof this year) combined with the storm….& some of the roof broke away in the bar. You can’t see it…& there is a roofer coming today.”[/caption]

Usually this retention pond on SW 128th is empty. Today it was nearly full, as well as hosting several ducks.[/caption]

On Tuesday night, there was water over the roadway at SW 172nd in Three Tree Point.[/caption]
