A 20-year-old gang member considered “armed and dangerous” was arrested late Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025, after a Crime Stoppers tip led police to a Burien home, the Renton Police Department Violent Crime Unit (VCU) confirmed.

Alberto Nunez was taken into custody without incident after officers found him hiding in a closet.

Police said that Nunez, who has threatened to kill law enforcement and their families, was wanted on warrants for assault and illegal possession of a firearm.

During the search, VCU officers discovered a rifle and a loaded magazine in a separate closet. Authorities are conducting testing to determine whether the firearm belonged to Nunez.

“We commend the help of our community and Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound in locating this dangerous suspect,” Renton Police said in a statement.

Nunez was booked into the King County Jail, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with further information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound or the Renton Police Department, and reference case #25-1569.
