The Rotary Club of Burien/White Center recently awarded its 2024 scholarships to local high school graduates:
- The Dick Dahlgard Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Highline High School student Jasmine Delgado Guerrero. Dick was an outstanding Rotarian and community leader and graduate of Highline High School.
- The Walter O. Carsten Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Katerine Blandon Ramirez of Evergreen High School. Walt was a very dedicated Rotarian and educator. He served as Principal of Evergreen High School at one point in his career.
- The Dr. Frank Tanaka Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Edith Mejia from the Puget Sound Skills Center. Dr. Tanaka was also a valued member of Rotary, and the scholarship goes to a student who is continuing in the dental field.
- Additional scholarships were awarded to Evergreen High School’s Vincent Huynh, Highline High School’s Madeline Lambert and Mar Rameirez-Gelhsler, Kennedy Catholic High School scholarships were awarded to Larissa Bernard and Rae Williams.
- Also presented were the organization’s “Service Above Self” Award to Eyanna Bannister of Evergreen High School, Atziry Gonzalez Guzman of Highline High School, and Anyssa Eng of Kennedy Catholic High School.
