Northbound SR 599 was closed Monday morning, March 11, 2024, just north of Interurban Avenue in Tukwila after a head-on collision.
The Washington State Patrol (WSP) said the collision happened just before 3 a.m.
While traveling southbound, the causing vehicle (#1) crossed the center median near Interurban, colliding head-on with a northbound vehicle (#2) in the northbound lane.
Vehicle #1 overturned into the east ditch, while vehicle #2 remained in northbound lane one.
The road closure lasted for 4 hours and 51 minutes.
The causing driver was in critical condition at Harborview, and the other driver was also transported to the hospital.
Emergency responders, WSP and the Incident Response Team responded and were on scene.
