Our Washington state youth in foster care are facing a critical moment. As the legislative session draws to a close, proposed budget cuts threaten vital educational support programs that help these resilient young people succeed in school and beyond.

Youth in foster care already face significant educational barriers – each school change can set them back months in learning. Without these support services, graduation rates could plummet, closing doors to future opportunities.

Last school year, 1,400+ youth in 175 school districts received one-on-one academic support and 1,100+ K-12 students received support addressing barriers to their education. These programs work – but they need consistent funding to continue making an impact.

Your voice matters! Take two minutes right now to use Treehouse’s advocacy tool to write to your legislators. Tell them to protect funding for foster care education support in this year’s budget. When we speak up together, lawmakers listen.

These young people are driven, resilient, and full of potential. They deserve champions who will stand up for their right to educational success.

Don’t wait! The session ends Sunday, April 27.
