On Sunday, April 15 at 1:14 p.m. Burien Police Detectives at Southwest Precinct 4 (14905 6th Ave SW; map below) were outside in the back lot when they heard a shot being fired near the front of the Police Station. Detectives and Deputies located a female lying on the ground outside, approached to check on her, then watched as she got up and walked towards her vehicle parked nearby. Police say they were able to talk to the woman and detain her in handcuffs before she got in her car. Found inside her vehicle was a loaded handgun. The female confirmed that she had fired a shot and “wanted to die.†She was transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation. It is unknown at this time where the shot went that she fired. “No one was injured in this situation,” Sgt. Ryan Abbott said. “A great job by Detectives and Deputies to use CIT (Crisis Intervention Training) to talk the female into a peaceful resolution and get her the help she needed.”
There was an armed suicidal female out front of or station today. Detectives were able to talk to her and come to a peaceful resolution. She was transported to a medical facility for treatment. The National Suicide Hotline is 1-800-273-8255.
