A 30-year old Kent woman was attacked, beaten and robbed after watching a Seahawks game at Elliott Bay Brewery in Burien on Thursday night, Oct. 22. Police say that on Thursday at around 8:30 p.m., a deputy was flagged down by a woman in a parking lot at 250 SW 152 Street (map below). Police say that the female told them she had been robbed after watching the Seahawks game at at the restaurant with her husband and friends. “They had driven separately and after the game she went to her vehicle parked in the lot across the street near the Dollar Tree,” Sgt. Cindi West of the King County Sheriff’s Office told The B-Town Blog. “She said that when she got to her vehicle she was surrounded by about 6 juvenile black males and females – mostly females according to the victim.” The victim was punched and knocked to the ground and kicked. Someone said to take her purse. Her purse was stolen and the suspects ran south on 4th Ave SW. The victim had a black eye and abrasions to her hands from being on the ground. A detective found the victim’s purse a short distance from the scene, but her keys, credit cards, cell phone, cash and paycheck were missing. Burien Detectives are investigating the crime. ]]>

Welcome to the ghetto!
Obvious clue time – Check all the local Metro bus video footage five minutes later for them off to spend the loot.
How cowardly. Hope she’s ok. That area is a cesspool of addicts and homeless people that do nothing but leach off of society. Hopefully they all end up in prison soon
You can thank LB and her insane policy of encouraging vagrants to hangout in Burien!
Perhaps, but this does not sound like vagrants. It sounds a bit more evil. Hoodlums comes to mind.
Anyone who thinks Burien is the ghetto hasn’t been to the ghetto before. Lived and worked there most of my life and never a crime committed against me. There are some wannbe thugs though that are just dying to prove they’re L.A. gangsta worthy. More like wanksta. Mainly small time stuff overall. I hope they catch the idiots that did this. Had they been at my car they would have a few bullet holes in them instead of my money in their pockets.
Line up Highline High School’s finest and send them away. Sad that area is still so shady.
What year did Burien jump the shark and become a ghetto? I’m thinking 1988.
Two years ago when Burien elected CM Berkowitz and CM Tosta. How unfortunate for Burien.
The year the Transit Center opened.
“Beer-can” has had a transit center since the early ’80’s…
Also Known As, ‘across the street from City Hall’..
or ‘Two Blocks from Burien PD Headquarters’..
feeling safe?
Amp’d, ‘Burien PD Headquarters’ as you describe it is little more than a gated parking facility with a receptionist and a couple of office workers in uniforms. I became aware of this when I needed a copy of a police report and thought I could pop in there to get it. They don’t have such records there. They explain how to get copies of records from King County. I am not complaining about our Burien police. In fact, my few interactions with some of them, have left me feeling very positive about these individuals! We have some very good officers! But, we share them with other areas and have a decentralized operation.
My bad… I Googled ‘Burien Police Headquarters’…
I got ‘14905 6th Ave SW, Burien, WA 98166 (206) 477-2200’
please accept my apologies.
Actually the Burien PD headquarters is at the address you listed above.
They are staffed M-F 8am to 5pm with office staff and officers. If you are there after hours there is an emergency phone located on the wall by the front door.
Sandy – we have a dedicated police force for the city of Burien, we are contracted through the King County Sheriffs office.
Downtown Burien really started becoming unsafe when the transit center opened. I know his from first hand experience since I live a block from it…
The transit center has been in existence since the early ’80’s..Its the same clientele, they’ve just moved off of 4th Ave when Metro purchased more land and moved the Transit Center off the street and onto their property. Since Metro has asked the police to patrol Metro property more frequently than they could ask them to patrol a public street a lot of the riff raff has moved from the Bartell’s/Burger King area to the Library/City Hall area. Also of note: According to the police report, the perps headed SOUTH on 4th SW, a direction away from the Transit Center and toward residential Burien.
There’s buses down that way to catch as well.
Seems like this is an area where better lighting and surveillance cameras would be useful and well worth the expense.
Why didn’t her husband see her to her car. Then she could have driven him to his.
” Safety in numbers.” Hmm.
Perhaps Elliott Bay Brewery should be offering escort service…uh, let me rephrase that, someone to walk you to your car.
The restaurants should not have to offer safety escort. People should be decent. 6 kids ganging up to beat and rob a woman is 6 in a group thinking it was ok. They all deserve to go to jail. Sad to be happening in this or any community.
I agree, but the problem is that these punks go to jail, get out and do it again. In addition to police, I think we should look at providing more funding for our city prosecutor and district court because having an overcrowded court system gives these hoodlums and their public defenders leverage in negotiating a lower sentence because there are not enough resources to schedule a trial for every case. We need to throw the book at these miscreants hopefully to discourage them from a criminal lifestyle, but at least to convince them to go somewhere else if they intend to keep committing these atrocious acts.
unfortunately the town square has turned into a mecca for vagrants homeless and the criminally bent populace. The only immediate remedy is stricter law enforcement and increased civilian vigilance.
Get rid of Dan Trimble and his “economic money saving plan” to sub out the police services to King County.
Normandy park has cops who live in Normandy Park and because of their vested interest, are very passionate and protective of their town.
It all comes down to Proactive vs. Reactive law enforcement.
And standards.
Never, never, never, never, never, never, NEVER walk to your car by yourself at night, no matter WHERE you are. This kind of thing is so traumatic. So sorry to the woman it happened to. I totally get it though – you think it’s early enough in the evening, or you don’t want to inconvenience your friends to walk you to your car. This could have been me, and I have even been jumped by thugs before minding my own beeswax at a bus stop in San Francsico. Speaking as much to myself in this as to others when I say again: Never, never, never, never, never, never, NEVER walk to your car by yourself at night, no matter WHERE you are.
They shouldn’t have to add light and cameras to the parking lot, and Elliott Bay shouldn’t have to escort anyone th their car. There is a sign plain as day that says “Dollar Tree Parking Only”
ILB, Do you think it is safe to walk in that area after dark?
Still not me. I would never post anything so insensitive. Why don’t you find your own name, instead of using mine.
Love doesn’t seem like a very good descriptor for you.
I am very saddened by this senseless act of violence. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.
The 30 year old Kent woman got an up close and personal Burien diversity encounter.
I believe all the businesses in Burien, that operate after dark, have an obligation to their customers to provide a safe environment. It doesn’t matter if it says Dollar Store parking only. This victim could have been coming from the Dollar Store, the Library, or anywhere.
It is the responsibility of the government to protect its citizens – in this case the City of Burien. The city needs to do a better job of this. Perhaps we need an anti-loitering ordinance. People also need to use their common sense – do not walk alone at night – even if only a short distance.
