Two drivers were arrested early Sunday, Mar. 22 after a Burien Police deputy observed them traveling at more than double the posted speed limit on 1st Avenue South, according to police.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. early Sunday, when a deputy saw two vehicles driving side by side at a high rate of speed while heading southbound.

The posted speed limit in the area is 35 mph.

Using a Patrol Radar Speed Measuring Device, the deputy determined both vehicles were traveling at approximately 85 mph, police said.

A traffic stop was conducted on both vehicles without incident. Following an investigation, both drivers were arrested, their vehicles were impounded and the two were booked into jail, according to police.

“Reckless driving at these speeds poses a serious risk to everyone on the road, including other drivers, pedestrians, and the drivers themselves,” police said in a statement. “We encourage all community members to drive responsibly, obey posted speed limits, and help keep our roads safe.”

  1. Good to see this. It needs more enforcement. You can hear the racers from a distance nearly every Friday and Saturday night, especially after midnight. Not just from 1st Ave, but sometimes on Ambaum too.

  2. I would like a law to beat people that drive like to a bloody pulp if needed especially these idiots with the exhausts that sounds like gun fire out of a tin can . Can we get a law to able pull a large caliber 50 cal or 357 firearm out and put some holes in their engine block . Maybe the police can tow them away use the car for target practice let the driver watch in hand cuffs . Then charge the driver all tow fees and cleanup fees and cost of ammo and law enforcement’s time . Ban them from driving for 10 years .
