Under perfect, blue skies, the 2014 Burien Brat Trot sprinted to a record year on Sunday, Oct. 5, with 893 of 1,654 registered runners finishing the race. The 5K race was won by 17-year old Mason Gionet, who beat out 54-year old second place finisher Brian Sepal by just six seconds in a sprint over the last 100 yards – here’s a clip of the close finish, as shot by Scott Schaefer: Gionet’s time was 10 seconds faster than last year’s winner, Mike Fosberg (who finished 4th this year).
