On Wednesday, June 17, workers from GLY Construction began demolishing two buildings – at 16033 and 16043 1st Ave South in Burien – to make way for a new medical office complex for CHI Franciscan Health. The new medical center will be a 48,000 square feet, $27 million facility, and will include an urgent care clinic, a primary care clinic, and a women’s health clinic. The destroyed buildings most recently served as a warehouse for Highline Public Schools, and a thrift store for the Salvation Army. Scott Schaefer donned a hardhat and orange vest, and shot the following video (and photos) of the start of the destruction:

The youtube video is spectacular. Turn up the volume and be reminded of Emperor Nero.
