KayakBar&GrillApplication The B-Town Blog has confirmed that Kayak Bar & Grill – formerly located at the Normandy Park Towne Center – will be taking over the old CC’s Lounge bar/restaurant at 635 SW 152nd Street. When contact, Kayak owner Nick Rondos told us:

“In a few weeks – don’t have a date yet…”
Rondos has been in the food industry for over 20 years, and used to own the Western Cafe in downtown Seattle, a longtime breakfast mainstay for hungover hipsters in the late 80s and early 90s. As we previously reported, CC’s first opened on May 4, 2010, and closed – and sold off equipment – in late February, 2015. It was operated by entertainer Corinne Clark (C.C.) Engel and her husband Jacques, who bought it to fulfill their “dream” of owning a bar that plays live music. C.C. is now playing and presenting live music at the Lighthouse Lounge in Des Moines on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday nights. Prior to operating as CC’s, the Burien space operated as The Breaktime Lounge. According to a Zillow listing, this property was valued at $196,363:
“Want to own your own ‘Cheers’ in the heart of Burien? Restaurant and bar for sale. Music 7days a week for dancing. Inventory and supplies will be audited prior to closing. Some leased equipment. Some owned equipment the sale price to be negotiated prior to closing.”
No word yet on what Rondos’ plans for the new space will be, but stay tuned…
If you have a hot tip about a local business, please email it to us at editor@b-townblog.com…thanks!

  1. Let’s just hope they remodel the ugly frontage of that building and open it up to the street, cafe-style The building and its color are currently an eyesore.

  2. This is great news. I always liked Kayak…nice neighborhood cafe feel and menu. Hope they can bring that same thing to the new location ….and I agree that a face lift would definitely help.

  3. I dug the food and drinks at the old Kayak. Wishing them good luck as that is a competitive street.
