Longtime Burien bar Elmer’s Pub has new owners, who are vowing to “clean the place up.”
Rachel Wilson and Kenny Wakefield bought the bar, took it over Aug. 1, and are currently doing remodeling work.
“We’re planning on re-opening the restaurant area,” Rachel told The B-Town Blog Wednesday afternoon (Aug. 8), “and make it a fully-functioning restaurant.”
Rachel has 10-1/2 years experience at another classic Burien bar – The Barrel Tavern – where she worked as bartender, manager and bookkeeper (look for a separate story on that bar soon).
“We’re also hoping to get on top of the music scene too,” she added.
According to Manta.com, Elmer’s has been in business in B-Town for 21 years.
The Stranger called it “a large, shabby biker/rocker joint with a live-and-let-live attitude and a short-order cook serving burgers and breakfasts until 11 pm.”
We think it’s a great, fun place, and we’re looking forward to seeing it be improved.
Elmer’s Pub is located at 15027 Ambaum Blvd SW; phone: (206) 439-1007.

Kudo’s… That place was a dive.. Looking forward to seeing the new digs and wish you best success at your enterprise.
Great.. Live music is growing in popularity again after several years of losing favor to DJs. It will be great to have nicer digs in Burien to hear live rock and roll.
Pardon my skepticism, but I do mean it in a lighthearted manner when I when I tell you
that I couldn’t help but giggle a bit when I read that someone from The Barrel is going to clean up Elmer’s. 🙂
That said, congrats to the new owners and best of luck to them in their endeavors. Any improvement made there will benefit us all.
Oh, and I miss Rooty’s. Burien’s been in dire need of a solid sports pub ever since that place closed.
Great Article Scott !!
How ’bout an update on the Re-Opening of the Sunnydale ?
