The featured gardens in Burien, SeaTac and Normandy Park this year all demonstrate ingenious alternatives to lawns – from creeks and ponds to botanical located beneath the 3rd runway.

This popular annual event will take place on Saturday, June 11, and tickets are now on sale. The self-guided tour includes artists and musicians in the gardens, and several types of interesting garden art.

Discount coupons and other specials are being provided by tour sponsors: Wild Birds Unlimited, Burien Bark, The Bean, The Bite Sandwich Company, and Rain City Sewer and Plumbing. Additional support comes from John L. Scott realtor Susan Plecko.

If you are a member of the Highline Historical Society, show your membership card and buy your Highline Garden Tour ticket for $8. (For this discount to apply, only memberships are accepted, not Admit One coupons.) Otherwise, advance tickets for the tour are $15 in advance, with group rates of $12 per person if bought in groups of four or more. Non-member tickets will be $18 on the day of the tour.

Tickets can be purchased at Wild Birds Unlimited, 15858 1st Avenue S, #106; Burien Bark, 13258 1st Avenue S; and Umpqua Bank, 224 SW 152nd Street – and Furney’s at 21215 International Blvd in Des Moines.

Tickets also can be purchased in advance by calling 206-246-6354.
