The King County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that on Halloween night, Oct. 31, 2019, police received a 911 call from the neighborhood of SW 144th Street and 15th Ave SW in Burien’s Seahurst neighborhood (map below) about a masked juvenile shooting at trick-or-treaters.

Police say the call about kids being shot with an air soft gun came in around 7:30 p.m.

The “shooter” was leaning out of a PT Cruiser, which was occupied by a group of juveniles.

The caller said that air soft pellets had struck a child and an adult, who was hit in the back.

An initial check of the area did not turn up the vehicle or the juveniles.

Soon the juveniles in the PT Cruiser turned up at a White Center Safeway store where they stole a case of beer and fled. A deputy spotted the car near the 9800 block of 17th Ave SW and stopped the vehicle.

A check on the PT Cruiser showed that it was stolen. Inside the vehicle were 4 juveniles, including an 18-year old male driver, stolen beer, the mask and the air soft gun used to shoot at the trick-or-treaters.

The 18-year old was booked into the King County Jail on investigation of possession of a stolen vehicle. The four juveniles were released to their parents, with one of the kids being just 12-years old.

“Our deputies did a great job locating the vehicle and making an arrest,” Sgt. Ryan Abbott said. “We are very thankful that no one was seriously injured in this incident.”
