A driver was arrested after a pursuit through Burien neighborhoods and onto SR 509, where deputies stopped a stolen vehicle and found suspected drugs and $5,610 in counterfeit cash inside, according to the Burien Police Department.
The driver was booked into jail on suspicion of eluding law enforcement, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession with intent to distribute, driving under the influence and obstruction, police said.
Deputies on patrol first spotted the vehicle being driven dangerously near SW 132nd Street and 2nd Ave SW (map below). They briefly followed to observe the driver’s behavior, then began a pursuit when the vehicle fled, according to the department.
On SR 509, deputies used a PIT maneuver to stop the vehicle. The driver ran but was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit, police said.
Deputies determined that the vehicle was stolen and located the following items inside:
- Crystal methamphetamine
- Powdered fentanyl
- Scales consistent with weighing substances
- $5,610 in counterfeit currency
- A CO2 gun
“Impaired driving puts everyone on the road at risk, but fleeing from law enforcement through residential neighborhoods creates an additional danger for residents, pedestrians, and other motorists,” the department said. “Never drive impaired, and never put innocent people at risk by attempting to flee from law enforcement.”
