Burien Police say that two local men recently stole a small outboard motor off of a Burien resident’s boat, then immediately posted it for sale on the app “OfferUp.”
An observant community member saw the ad and contacted police.
“Our master police officer coordinated with an undercover detective, who presented himself as a buyer,” police said. “The thieves arrived right on time to sell the motor and unknowingly presented it to the Burien Police Department.”
They were then arrested for their caper and the boat motor is now back with the owner.
“Shout out to Master Police Officer Price, Detective Cueva and Officer Luther for their work on this case!”
