A pedestrian was killed late Tuesday night, Mar. 26, 2025 in a hit-and-run crash on Tukwila International Boulevard, and police have taken a suspect into custody thanks to license plate reader technology.

Tukwila police responded to the 14100 block of Tukwila International Boulevard (map below) just after 11 p.m. Tuesday night, following reports of a vehicle striking a pedestrian.

Sadly, officers found the victim deceased at the scene.

The driver reportedly fled after the crash, prompting a search led by the Tukwila Police Department’s Traffic Unit. Investigators were able to quickly identify the suspect’s vehicle using FLOCK Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR) and located both the vehicle and the suspect shortly afterward.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident, police said.

“Based on the initial investigation, the suspect vehicle was identified via FLOCK Automated License Plate Readers,” police said in a statement. “Officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle and the suspect shortly thereafter at which point the suspect was taken into custody.”

Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash.

The identity of the victim has not been publicly released, pending notification of next of kin.
