The “Battle of Burien” is back – the Highline High Pirates varsity football team will play a home non-conference game against the Kennedy Catholic High School Lancers on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023, with kick-off at 12 p.m.

This “Battle of Burien” intercity rivalry will be played at Highline Memorial Stadium.

Last year, the Lancers beat the Pirates 41-6 in the battle (NOTE: Kennedy is in the bigger, tougher 4A division, while Highline is 2A).

Last season, Highline made it to the 2A state championship, losing to Lynden 42-13; Kennedy made it to the 4A state championship, losing to Lake Stevens in a 24-22 nail biter that went down to the wire.

According to initial pre-season rankings, the Lancers are 9th in the state, while the Pirates are at 82nd.
