Kennedy Catholic’s football Lancers powered past Stadium High School 42–10 Saturday, Sept. 19, at Highline Memorial Stadium, using a balanced scoring attack to earn its second victory of the season.
The Burien-based Lancers scored in every quarter and took control early, building a 21–7 halftime lead before adding three more touchdowns in the second half.
Kennedy Catholic opened with 14 unanswered points in the first quarter. Stadium responded with a touchdown in the second, but the Lancers matched it to carry a two touchdown advantage into halftime.
Kennedy Catholic then put the game away with another 14 points in the third quarter, stretching its lead to 35–10. The Lancers added seven more points in the fourth while holding Stadium scoreless over the final period.
The quarter by quarter scoring provided with the game shows Kennedy Catholic outscored Stadium 14–0 in the first quarter, the teams each scored seven in the second, Kennedy Catholic held a 14–3 advantage in the third and closed with a 7-0 fourth quarter.
The victory improved Kennedy Catholic to 2-1, while Stadium fell to 0-3.
The 2–1 Lancers next take on Kentwood High (1–2) in a home game at Highline Memorial Stadium at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26.
