Kennedy Catholic’s football Lancers scored 21 points in the first quarter and shut out Mount Rainier’s Rams 48-0 Friday night, Oct. 9, in a football matchup between the Burien and Des Moines schools.

The conference victory brought the Lancers’ overall record to 5-1, while the Rams fell to 4-2.

Kennedy Catholic followed its opening quarter with seven points in the second, taking a 28-0 lead into halftime at Highline Memorial Stadium.

The Lancers added 13 points in the third quarter to extend their advantage to 41-0, then scored seven more in the fourth.

Both teams were coming off 48-point scores in their most previous games, so the excitement for an offensive matchup was high.

Mount Rainier was held scoreless in all four quarters.
