All schools in the Highline Public School district are closed Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024, following a powerful overnight windstorm that caused widespread power outages.

Many school buildings remain without electricity, and there is no estimated time for restoration, district officials announced early Wednesday.

Transportation services to schools outside the district have also been suspended, and all scheduled activities, athletic events, and meetings are canceled for the day.

Despite the closures, district administrative offices will remain open. Staff are encouraged to review expectations for inclement weather on the Staff Hub for further guidance.

The district urged families to stay safe and warm and advised monitoring the district’s website for further updates on closures and reopening plans.
