Year-end giving at Burien Actors Theatre (BAT) included a $5,000.00 donation by local real estate agent Patti Gifford (pictured above, center, with BAT’s Eric Dickman and Maggie Larrick) in memory of her late son, Scott Gifford.

Among the many things Scott did for his community, he had been BAT Board President until his recent passing on Oct. 30, 2023.

He led BAT through the fire at the Annex in 2013, the fight to save the Annex, and was spearheading BAT’s current drive to build a performing and visual arts center in Burien.

His optimism, diplomacy, and sense of humor helped BAT successfully navigate these changes.

As Board President, Scott saw challenges rather than obstacles, refusing to take no for an answer. Scott’s Board Presidency oversaw 10 years of producing live theater in Burien.

He was a kind, gentle soul who is missed by his family at BAT and by the community at large.
