Kennedy Catholic High School’s Lancers opened the 2026 football season with a 14–10 loss to the Bellevue High Wolverines on Saturday, Sept. 5 at Highline Memorial Stadium in Burien.
The nonconference result left the Lancers with an 0-1 record, while the Wolverines improved to 1-0. MaxPreps listed Bellevue No. 2 in Washington and Kennedy Catholic No. 22 in its Week 1 rankings.
Scoring Recap
- Kennedy got off to a decent start, and led 7-0 at halftime.
- Bellevue intercepted a Kennedy pass early in the 3rd quarter, scored on a touchdown pass, and converted the extra point to tie the game at 7-7.
- The Wolverines later scored another passing touchdown and made the extra point to take a 14-7 lead.
- Kennedy Catholic answered with a field goal, cutting Bellevue’s lead to 14-10.
- Kennedy Catholic recovered a Bellevue fumble in the 4th quarter.
- The Wolverines turned the ball over on downs later in the 4th.
- The Lancers had a chance to drive down and score towards the end of the 4th, but turned the ball over on downs.
- Bellevue held on for a 14-10 victory.
The Lancers entered the season with a deep group of running backs and quarterbacks, along with a young offensive line, according to coach Pat Jones.
“I like our team,” Jones told The B-Town Blog before the season. “We’re very deep at running backs. We’re very deep at quarterback. We’re fairly deep on the O line, but we’re young on the O line.”
Kennedy Catholic will look for its first victory on Thursday, Sept. 10, when the Lancers travel to Mount Tahoma for a 7 p.m. game.
