Burien Indivisible says its planned Sept. 9 inaugural meeting may need to be rescheduled, and the group is asking the community to take part in its regular rallies and voter postcard events in the meantime.
The group said it has run into issues regarding the inaugural meeting, which had been scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 9 – the same night as the Seahawks opening game.
The group said community members are still invited to learn about its work in Burien.
Burien Indivisible said it formed in April in response to an increase in ICE presence in the community. The group began with twice-monthly rallies at 1st Ave South and SW 148th Street in front of the Burien Arch.
Since then, the group said it has added regular postcard writing to potential voters across the nation, collaboration with rapid response teams and connections with other Indivisible chapters across South King County.
Event Schedule
- Burien Chooses Love Rally is held from Noon to 2 p.m. every second and fourth Saturday at 1st Ave South and SW 148th Street in front of the Burien Arch. The group describes the rally as a celebration of unity and inclusion.
- Get Out the Vote postcard meetups from 4 to 6 p.m. every first and third Monday of the month. The first Monday meetup is at Logan Brewery, 510 SW 151st Street in Burien, and the third Monday meetup is at Future Primitive Brewery, 9832 14th Ave SW in White Center.
