King County Sheriff’s Office Patrol K9 Vuki, a German shepherd who served across the region, died suddenly July 15, according to an announcement shared by Burien Police.
Vuki was born in Croatia on Sept. 24, 2022, and joined the King County Sheriff’s Office exactly one year later, on Sept. 24, 2023, according to Burien Police.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the sudden passing of our Patrol K9 Vuki,” Burien Police said in the announcement.
During his service, Vuki responded to 169 K9 incidents, was deployed 147 times, recovered 18 pieces of evidence and was directly responsible for the apprehension of 48 felony suspects, according to the announcement.
“These numbers reflect an extraordinary career of courage and dedication,” Burien Police said. “Those who knew Vuki will remember him just as much for his warmth.”
The department described Vuki as “a deeply social, loving dog who brought joy to those around him, on and off duty.”
“We thank Vuki for his service,” Burien Police said.
