With temperatures expected to drop into the 20s this coming week, the Burien Severe Weather Shelter will remain open through Thursday night, Feb. 13, 2025, to provide warmth and safety for those in need.

Shelter organizers are urgently seeking volunteers, dinner ingredients, and essential supplies to support ongoing operations.

Check the signup list, which will be updated regularly as nightly meal plans are finalized, and community members are encouraged to check back frequently for specific needs.

“As always, you can help by spreading the word to your friends and neighbors and sharing our posts on Facebook,” shelter organizers said in a statement.

The shelter – located at Highline United Methodist Church (map below) – serves as a vital resource for Burien’s most vulnerable residents, relies on community generosity to continue offering warm meals, safe shelter, and compassionate support.

For those interested in volunteering or donating, updated information can be found online here.

“Your generosity allows us to continue keeping our community safe and warm,” organizers said.
