The Burien Severe Weather Shelter opened Sunday, Feb. 2, and will remain open through Thursday night, Feb. 6 in response to expected harsh winter weather conditions, organizers announced.
UPDATE: The shelter will remain open through Thursday, with the possibility of additional nights depending on weather conditions and volunteer availability.
Organizers are seeking volunteers and donations to support the shelter’s operations and are encouraging community members to sign up for shifts and contribute needed supplies.
The shelter – located at Highline United Methodist Church (map below) – provides a warm and safe space for individuals experiencing homelessness or those in need of refuge from severe cold.
