The Burien Severe Weather Shelter is asking the community to donate clothing and other essential items as its Day Center continues operating four days a week and offering shower services to guests.
According to organizers, the clothing room is running low on supplies and they are seeking donations of gently used casual clothing, shoes, towels and personal hygiene items.
Donations Needed
The shelter said its greatest needs include:
- Bath towels
- Men’s boxer briefs in medium and large sizes
- White or black crew socks
- Men’s jeans in sizes 32×32, 34×32, 34×34, 36×32 and 36×34
- Women’s leggings in small, medium and large sizes
- Hooded sweatshirts for men and women in medium through extra large sizes
- Men’s tennis shoes or boots in sizes 9 through 13
- Women’s tennis shoes in sizes 6 through 9
- Individual size body lotion
- Feminine hygiene products
- Disposable razors
- Nail clippers
Where & When to Donate
Donations can be dropped off Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the lower corner Fellowship Hall door. Sunday donations are accepted from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the lower door in the back alley.
The Day Center provides services to people experiencing homelessness and others in need, with the addition of shower facilities increasing demand for clean clothing and personal care supplies, according to the shelter.
