Arbor-Day-2016-final-invitation
The City of Burien will be celebrating Arbor Day on Wednesday, April 13, starting at 11 a.m. at Seahurst Park.
The City will also be celebrating its 15th year as a member of ‘Tree City USA,’ and this will be the 144th anniversary of Arbor Day.
The celebration will include an official tree planting ceremony, with students from Highline’s Big Picture School helping to plant three Vine Maple trees in honor of Arbor Day. Big Picture School has partnered with Burien’s Adopt-a-Park Program and the Environmental Science Center to engage in an outdoor community learning project. During the school year, eighth graders spend one day each month performing hands-on restoration and water quality testing at Seahurst Park.

Ben Thompson, an Urban Forestry Specialist from Washington State Department of Natural Resources, will present the City’s Tree City USA flag to commemorate the City of Burien’s 15th year membership.
