  1. Great results for Burien. SEIU tried to buy the election and blew about $37,000 of its members’ money on a candidate that came in 4th and one in such a distant 2nd that the general is all but over.

Looks like the newcomer Linda Akey can outraise the incumbent and spend her money more effectively, but I bet Cydney will pull up and be the 2nd candidate in the general. But she has probably topped out at 30% as she has very high negatives.

This all doesn’t bode well for Krystal Marx who is Cydney Moore’s mentor and biggest supporter. If Alex Andrade can do the work Linda Akey has done, she should win easily over Krystal who will probably get the same voters as Cydney Moore.

Good for Burien. Looking ahead, Schilling should be mayor, he runs a good council meeting.

  2. Adding to the great post Fred made, I’d say this… This is also a message to the 33rd Legislative Democrats. You may be the loudest voices on Twitter, but you can’t bully an entire city into your will. The dishonest Stranger article by Sam Mendez probably helped Kevin much more than it hurt him.

It should also be a lesson to King County that their vision of using Burien as an outlet for the problems caused by their failed policies isn’t going to be as easy as it thinks.

They underestimated Burien. They thought we would be easy pickings as an economically disadvantaged city with many ESL residents. Kudos to everyone who stood up for the health of the community.
