Wednesday’s (Aug. 9, 2023) eighth round of election returns – which seem to be trickling in slowly – show that Burien City Council, Position No. 2 will likely pit challenger Linda Akey against incumbent Cydney Moore.

Moore gained only two votes in the latest tally, and Akey gained only six.

On election night (Tuesday, Aug. 1), Moore was initially trailing Rut Perez-Studer by 73 votes, but by Aug. 3 gained the lead by 77 votes.

Moore trails leader Akey by 318 votes, but leads Perez-Studer by 195.

For Position No. 4, incumbent Kevin Schilling leads challenger Patricia Hudson by 2,076 votes.

In addition to the primary winners, the Nov 7 General Election will also feature former councilmember Krystal Marx facing challenger Alex Andrade vying for Position No. 6.

The top two vote-getters for each race move on to the Nov. 7 General Election, and it appears that returns have stabilized.

Votes will be finalized by King County Elections on Aug. 15, 2023.
