Thursday’s (Aug. 3, 2023) third round of election returns show that Burien City Council, Position No. 2 incumbent Cydney Moore is now in second place behind Linda Akey, after gaining enough votes to overtake Rut Perez-Studer.

On Tuesday night (Aug. 1), Moore was initially trailing by 73 votes, then on Wednesday, Aug. 2 gained enough to be down by just 15.

Now she’s ahead by 77 votes, pushing Perez-Studer into third place – and most likely out of the General Election if the trend continues.

For Position No. 4, Kevin Schilling will face off against Patricia Hudson in November.

The top two vote-getters for each race move on to the Nov. 7 General Election.

Votes will be finalized by King County Elections on Aug. 15, 2023.
