Auburn Mountainview scored 28 unanswered points after the first quarter to beat visiting Highline 35-7 on Saturday, Sept. 26, in a nonconference football game between the Auburn and Burien schools.
The Lions improved to 2-2 losses, while the Pirates fell to 0-4.
Highline stayed even through the opening quarter, which ended with the teams tied at 7. Auburn Mountainview added seven points in the second quarter to take a 14-7 halftime lead.
The Lions pulled away in the third quarter, scoring 14 points while holding the Pirates scoreless to extend their lead to 28-7. Auburn Mountainview added seven more points in the fourth and kept Highline off the scoreboard for the third consecutive quarter.
Highline is scheduled to next host Mercer Island at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2.
