Highline High School’s Pirates varsity football team opened the 2026 season with a 25-15 loss to the Mount Rainier Rams on Friday night, Sept. 4 at Highline Memorial Stadium in Burien.
The result gave the Pirates a record of 0-1 loss.
Highline is scheduled to host Inglemoor at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11 at Highline Stadium.
Upcoming Pirates games include conference matchups against Liberty, Interlake, Newport and Redmond, along with non-conference games against Auburn Mountainview and Mercer Island.
Scoring Recap
- Mount Rainier led by just 6 at halftime with a score of 13–7.
- In the 3rd quarter, Highline’s safety made the score 13–9 before the Rams scored on an 8-yard touchdown pass.
- Highline came back and scored on a 43-yard touchdown pass, bringing the score to 19–15 after both teams missed extra points.
- In the 4th quarter, the Rams sealed the win after intercepting a Highline pass at the Pirates’ 10 yard line, then scored on a 2-yard rushing touchdown for the final margin.
- The game was played on a dry field in fair weather before an announced attendance of at least 1,000.
