Come meet Gray Sky Studio Artists Julie Jacobson and Greta Dutton, featured in April at the Burien Arts Gallery, 826 S.W. 152nd Street. The Opening Reception will be this Friday, 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Free face painting in front of the Gallery and the Burien UFO Festival in the surrounding Olde Burien neighborhood will add to the festive Friday April Fools fun. Also displayed will be works by Corrie Ebel and glass sculpture by Michael Dupille. Artists United members Sharon McConnell, Diane Fechin Gardner and Debra Valprey will also be displaying their work. Sharon and Diane are long time AU members who both paint and photograph. Debra, a new member, is an oil and watercolor painter. Julie Jacobson has been selling her paintings for over a decade in local boutiques and galleries. She’s been a graphic designer for 20 years, both in design firms and her own freelance business. Notes Julie, “This background definitely plays a role in my art. Each painting is a study in composition, color and story. “This series is about taking away all the noise and excess but still being left with something special and alive. By dissecting, overlapping and reassembling the Magnolia flower something new and beautiful is created.†Greta Dutton’s life journey has led her to such exciting places as Malibu, London, New Mexico and Australia. Her art draws from her emotions and her exceptional life journey. “I’m inspired by nature. I love the contrasting colors of flowers, skies, clouds and atmosphere. I’m especially drawn to water. Water, like painting, calms and excites me,†Greta declares. “I feel alive when I paint and I can’t imagine life without art.†The entire exhibit runs April 1-April 30. The Burien Arts Gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday, noon-6 p.m. The gallery is closed Sundaythrough Tuesday. For more information visit www.burienarts.org or call 206-244-7808.]]>
