Burien Police Deputies – along with King County Fire District No. 2 medics – responded to the Burien Library at 1:16 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, for a person with a medical emergency in a tent.

We happened to be on scene at the time (ironically being interviewed by KUOW’s Amy Radil for a story about the homelessness issue in Burien), and reports from an officer on scene was that it may have been an overdose, as Narcan was administered to the victim as well as CPR.

The person experiencing the emergency was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

This is all the information police released.

  1. This should never happen but when it’s allowed what do you expect? I no longer go there not because of fear but because Burien is being taken over by the Lawless people that know they can get away with it.

Burien is letting those poor businesses down by allowing this,as the weather gets better it’s only gonna get worse. Call it what you want but Burien already lost the fight.

    1. John M, Coming to our hood soon! I simply dont understand why many say housing first rather than addiction treatment first. The drug dealers are waiting in the wings for the grand opening of our very own Burien DESC facility.

  2. That video is a better solution than what we have now, which is to let them die on the streets. Yes, it is jarring, but it is objectively the best way forward for these folk. Harm reduction works.

Burien isn’t letting the businesses down, Burien, King County, Washington State, and the United States have let all of us down, but especially the people living out on the streets. Especially drug addicts.

Fix the problem, not the symptom.
