  1. This invitation for public comment on potential future candidates is premature. The forced departure of Mr. Gurol continues to go unexplained. Before Burien residents can comment knowledgeably on future candidates they need to understand City Council’s expectations for the role of City Manager.
In what ways did Mr. Gurol fail in his duties? From a public point of view, the vast majority of Burien residents were pleased and satisfied both with his job performance and his personal demeanor. How can we assess future candidates unless we first understand the shortfalls of Mr. Gurol? City Council must first provide its reasons for dismissing him, and the exact ways in which it anticipates different conduct from his successor.
