IMG_4743   IMG_4737 IMG_4739 IMG_4742 Story & Photos by Sterling Paris South King Media Intern On SW 152 Street (seems to be my favorite street!) in downtown Burien is a restaurant called Maven Mercantile, which was first opened in October 2013 by Heidi Pomeroy and her dog ‘Piper.’ Heidi mans the kitchen and customers with the help of seven amazing staff members, while Piper is the official greeter. They have an ever-changing menu that includes local and seasonal foods, and now that the Burien Farmers Market has opened it has an even better selection. They make their own breads and pastries, and also have delivery service for made-from-scratch meals. And now they even serve Brunch on Saturdays! Heidi and the crew are always busy while Piper keeps the customers happy. Piper will be 9-years old this summer. He is a very pretty Sheltie dog and has been with Heidi and her husband since he was a puppie. “When we first opened Piper would help greet customers and help connect us to the community because people would come in and see the dog and ask questions,” she said. Last November Piper got really sick and was gone for a good solid week and everyone missed him, especially the little kids. But now he is back and all the little kids can come in and pet and play with him while their order is being taken! Until next time, (and thank you so much for reading) – Sterling Paris
