Discover Burien’s annual ‘Clean Sweep’ will be held from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, starting at its new home base – the brand new Burien Fire Station #2, located at 900 SW 146th Street (map below). “Help clean up the neighborhood as the community comes together to pick up trash and recycle in Burien during this annual event,” reads an announcement. Volunteers gather at 8 a.m. at the NEW fire station for coffee, juice, donuts, etc., then are assigned to a team and given gloves, garbage bags, buckets, brooms and safety vests. This is a great, FREE opportunity to help make Burien a bit cleaner, a bit more livable and a lot more lovable. In addition to donning gloves, grabbing a broom, dustpan or other cleaning implement(s), there will be a raffle and hot dogs! Volunteers are dispatched to an area of the city to clean up trash. At Noon, volunteers return to the fire station for a hot dog lunch and raffle with prizes donated by area businesses. The event ends at 1 p.m. There will also be a shredding fundraiser at 611 SW 152nd Street from 9 a.m. – Noon. Last year 8.15 tons of garbage were collected by over 400 people! For more information:
