The Burien Police Department announced this week that it is deploying two motorcycles to help deputies patrol parks, trails, pathways and other places that can be difficult or impossible to reach in a patrol vehicle.
The motorcycles are part of the department’s continuing efforts to reduce crime, increase police visibility and give deputies more ways to monitor areas throughout Burien, according to the department.
“This is about more than having a different set of wheels,” police said. “It’s another tool that allows our deputies to get out into the community, identify problem areas, deter criminal activity, and be where our residents are.”
Deputies will use the motorcycles to conduct area checks and proactively patrol parks, trails and other locations that patrol cars cannot easily access, the department said.
“So if you see a Burien deputy cruising by on two wheels…give us a wave!” police said.
