[EDITOR’S NOTE: The following article is another from our youngest-ever Contributor – 10-year old Isabel Herbruger – who has been submitting stories and photos as part of her effort to earn a Girl Scout badge for journalism, as well as qualify for a 4H photography project. She also has three brothers on the Highline wrestling team. We encourage residents of all ages to submit stories and photos for posting – for consideration, please email yours to [email protected]!] Photos and Story by Isabel Herbruger, age 10 It was another close battle between Highline and Renton at sub-regionals. In ten of the fourteen weight classes, Highline Pirates had a wrestler place in the top three. Renton had a very full roster and had to wrestle against itself many times at the beginning. Each match is worth points, so the early Renton vs. Renton matches gave their team scores a bigger number from the start. But that is okay, as the Pirates captured four 1st place spots, four 2nd place spots, and two 3rd place spots. Ten Pirates are moving on to Regionals, and that is really impressive! Team scores for sub-regionals on Saturday, February 7, 2015 were:

  • Renton 221.0
  • Highline 184.5
  • Lindbergh 127.0
  • Liberty 121.5
  • Foster 65.0
  • Evergreen 58.0
  • Tyee 51.0
  • Sammamish 8.0

There are way too many good wrestlers and photos to share here! Throughout the day there were several exciting moments. Both Kyle’s and Jimmy’s overtimes really got the crowd involved with cheering for the Pirates. And once again, the Pirates showed their good sportsmanship all day long. Good luck to those going to Regionals this Saturday, February 14, 2015 at River Ridge High in Lacey, WA, starting at 10 a.m. The State Tournament is February 20-21, 2015 at the Tacoma Dome.]]>
